Architectural Wonders Page 2.
Here's some more overdone stuff to entertain. This second page of the wonders section is mainly oddities. Of course it's all the same overdone bigness but this page primarily focuses on overdone ornamentation.

Palace Of Hilarity

McKinney, Tx

I started laughing so hard when I saw this
my son Joel asked me what was wrong.
Then he looked at the thing and he started laughing too.

Note the totally pointless columns on the corners.

I didn't notice the lions on the corners until I was taking this photo. Also, get a load of those doors and baconies crammed up into those gables. Crammed might not be the right word. Maybe squeezed is better.

Then I had to zoom in to get this.
There are 4 of these on the front corners.
One on each corner.
The lion adds such a regal touch to the transformer!

Run-Of-The-Mill Castle Crap

McKinney, Tx

Blah blah. More huge castleness.
Note the extend-o-scroll thingie over the window above the entry.

Yawn. Castle house number 1,265,356. Doesn't anyone get tired of this stuff?

More Run-Of-The-Mill Castle Crap

McKinney, Tx

Blah, Blah, Yawn. Notice the super-high ramped up gable. This one gets the big cluttered and jumbled award.

The gable looks even more ridiculous from this angle.
It's so obvious that it's there just to be BIG!!
It looks somewhat like the tail of a 747 sticking up.

I Can't Figure This One Out.

Hawkswood, Fairview, Tx

This thing took forever to build. Of the dozens of times I have passed by this thing it seems like it's always for sale. I only recall someone actually living there for a short time after it was done.
Ohhh, how neat! A bridge over the drive-way. Whoopie!! What a beautiful spacious balcony too. Looks like there might acually be about 2 feet from the double doors to the railing.

This is really one of the strangest things I have seen yet. The outward bulging window things, the giant upward bulge over the front, the HUGE nonsensical non-functional balcony over the entry etc. etc.

The exquisite attention to detail here is impressive. Notice how the double upward bulge things aren't even centered over windows.

I have yet to figure out the giant protruding window things and get a load of the double overhangs. Is one not enough. I really would be impressed if there were gutters around the bottom one too.

Another Hawkswood house.
There is something obviously bizarre about this house. It doesn't take long to spot it. More exquisite attention to detail here. It's a nice touch to have to dodge around the column to get to the front door. Am I the only one who notices stuff like this. It just looks weird to me to have a column right in front of the front door. Maybe it's just me.
